Jewell Augustine is a dedicated Figure Skating instructor with thirty  years of experience teaching children and adults. She is skilled at teaching skating fundamentals to all ages and abilities. Her goal is simple, to help anyone interested to learn the fundamentals of the sport and begin a lifetime commitment to health and wellness.

The U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Program has been designed by U.S. Figure Skating to be the best beginning ice skating program in the United States. Fun, challenging and rewarding, this program serves the needs of both the recreational and competitive skater. The curriculum is designed to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning from the time they begin lessons until they reach their goals. There are more than 115,000 skaters registered in more than 875 programs across the country, making it the fastest growing figure skating program in the country. Since its inception, the program has taught more than 1.5 million people how to skate.
 
The South County Skating School, at the Boss Ice Arena, offers learn-to-skate sessions throughout the year.  Each session is eight (8) weeks, and each class hour includes a 25-minute group lesson, and 25 minutes of practice time.  Designed by the United States Figure Skating Association, the Basic Skills Program is a beginning ice skating program that is fun, challenging and rewarding.  Participation in the program will enable beginning skaters of all ages, the abilities to learn the fundamentals of the sport and begin a lifetime commitment to health and wellness. South County Skating School customizes their instruction to every level of skater from beginner to advanced including adults. The Adult curriculum is designed for the beginner adult skater. It will promote physical fitness as well as improve balance and coordination while learning proper skating techniques. Divided into levels,adult skaters will progress at an individual rate while being challenged and motivated. This is an exciting program for people who look to skating as an enjoyable way for a fit and healthy lifestyle.  Our professional instructors take great pride in offering a fun, relaxing skating environment for all individuals.  It is our goal to provide each individual with the necessary tools to maintain health and wellness by becoming a recreational figure or hockey skater. 
 
REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE
  • Children must be 4 years of age or older to enroll
  • Helmets are MANDATORY for all beginners, and recommended for all individuals
  • A parent or legal guardian must sign registration forms

Full payment is due at registration

  • Each 8 week session is $130, however, we do offer several types of discounts including:
  • URI Faculty and Staff: 10% off during Fall, Spring and Summer Sessions
  • Military: 10% off during Fall, Spring and Summer Sessions
  • Family Discount: Pay for the first child at full price and get $10 off each additional child during Fall, Spring and Summer Sessions.

There are NO discounts during Winter or Winter/Spring Sessions!
